In Chile, the bee population is declining which is affecting the growth of crops, and the pollination of plants. Bee decline in this country is being caused by the drought that is largely affecting their country. This drought is killing flowers, and their flower buds, and causing the bees to starve to death. Since the flowers are dying, there is no nectar for the bees to eat, which provides them with proteins and carbohydrates. Bees can't survive without these two things. Chile's fruit industry is struggling immensely because of bee decline. Most of Chile's fruit exports such as avocados and apples are pollinated by bees. Experts are saying that there might be a huge affect on Chile's agriculture. Their agriculture is the main part of their economy. In Chile, normally once a bee pollinates a certain type of fruit it will keep on pollinating that type of fruit and only that type of fruit. For example, if a bee pollinates an avocado plant it will keep pollinating an avocado plant for the rest of its life. Bee decline in Chile is beginning to become a major problem in the country. The country is dependent on its fruit industry, so if the bees disappear their whole economic system will suffer.
