Since the decade of the 1980's bee decline has been a worldwide problem. Beginning in 2006 beekeepers began noticing this problem. Soon after they found out about it, they studied the mysterious and sudden disappearances of bees. Their reports show unusually high rates of bee decline in bee colonies. It was as if bees were disappearing out of thin air. This raised concerns for many people, specifically the beekeepers. Since 2006, 30 to 90 percent of bee colonies are disappearing annually. Due to bee decline, many of the worker bees that are essential to a colonies survival are disappearing. As more and more of the worker bees disappear, the more their colony weakens and eventually vanishes because it is no longer able to function. This phenomenon of bee colonies collapsing is properly named Colony Collapse Disorder.
